Blessed Assurance - (From my "What Hymns Mean To Me" collection of literature)

Jesus is mine; Blessed assurance.
Why use the word ‘assurance’ to then say Jesus is mine? When look at the word assurance I think of its definitions;
1. a positive declaration intended to give confidence
2. promise or pledge; guaranty; surety
3. full confidence; freedom from doubt; certainty
4. freedom from timidity; self-confidence; belief in one's abilities
5. presumptuous boldness; impudence

This all makes perfect sense to me till we get to the 5th definition. Presumptuous means to be over confident even arrogant, and impudence means the quality of being offensively bold, offensively bold behavior, or the trait of being rude and impertinent; inclined to take liberties. The quality of being impudent; assurance, accompanied with a disregard of the presence or opinions of others; shamelessness; forwardness; want of modesty.
So why such a word? So to be a believer does this mean I am to be arrogant about my faith? Knowing I hold the worlds truth; should I be shameless in my praise? Why should your opinion matter to me, when I serve the most high God? Or should I just be forward and say ‘THE WAYS OF SIN IS ETERNAL DEATH’?

This is my story
Blessed assurance, O what a foretaste of divine glory from God. The dynamics of this is just mind bottling to know that when sincerely practiced and when you say blessed assurance; you’re speaking confidence into your life, freedom, that guaranty from God. A worry free guaranty and I know Verizon promises the same when you join their service. The only difference is they take your money and make you sign a contract for those services. Gods worry free guaranty is free and because he loves you so much he will let you go at anytime you choose because he wants to give you that freedom to try others if you must. God never wants us to feel locked in or trapped. He wants people who can serve him on the basis of just who he is and not what he can do for you. The real question is; Why would you want to try anything else?

This is my song
Submission, delight, all perfect even rapture, MY GOD, in my sight. Angels, mercy, and his love, Lord Jesus what I would give to be washed in your blood. My soul is at rest as I sit here and wait, looking above, nothing but his goodness, HALLELUJAH!!!!!! The feeling of being lost in his love. I read these words and my soul weeps, I get emotional, and can’t help at times to cry. I hear these words and I speak them into my life, and there is this strength that comes over me. This ability to take on anything God puts before me, just top prove more and more how devoted I am to him. Not just by my service and my works but just in the simple way I live my life.

Praising my savior
If I am going to sing this hymn and call it one of my favorites then I need to be bold, and offensive in his name and for his name sake. I’m not going to no longer hold back this truth that I hold and turn around and say I am assured that Jesus is mine. Yes I will boldly disregard your beliefs, as you should mine if your faith teaches otherwise. If you know you hold ultimate truth in your faith then nothing or no one should be able to take you from it. Now I will not be rude, but no thank you I don’t need to hear your version of the truth because mine truth is all in the word of God. Shame is no longer in my vocabulary, not even for my past. In God my past has been forgiven, so I will praise in shamelessly and boldly with no regrets. Satan is what’s behind me, and the cross is before so no need to look back. My eyes are on the prize and God Blessed Assurance is my guide – All the day long. Amen!!!!

“Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine! O what a foretaste of glory divine! Heir of salvation, purchase of God,Born of His Spirit, washed in His blood.
Perfect submission, perfect delight,Visions of rapture now burst on my sight; Angels descending bring from above Echoes of mercy, whispers of love.
Perfect submission, all is at rest I in my Savior am happy and blest, Watching and waiting, looking above, Filled with His goodness, lost in His love.
This is my story, this is my song, Praising my Savior, all the day long; This is my story, this is my song, Praising my Savior, all the day long.”
